You now have a beautiful new smile, but that doesn’t mean you know how to use your dentures. Getting used to new dentures takes time, but following these five tips can help you learn how to use your new teeth quickly and properly.
Harder-to-eat foods may be a problem when you first get dentures, so start slow with softer foods, such as soups and soft breads. Slowly add harder-to-eat foods, like raw fruits and vegetables, gradually becoming used to eating them. This allows you to adjust over time without a hefty struggle. Other tips for eating include:
- Eat small pieces
- Chew in a sideways motion
- Don’t pull at food with your teeth
- Chew with food on both sides of your dentures
