Some people dream about living the fast-paced life in a big city. Others dread the thought of having to be at so many different places throughout the course of a single day. If you fit in with the latter, you know that your hectic schedule can take a toll on your mind and body, so here are five tips to take care of yourself when you’re on the go.

1) Entertain yourself with your surroundings

Constant travel can be exhausting, but it can also be quite enjoyable if you know how to appreciate your surroundings. To keep your spirits up, try to find joy in everything around you. No matter where you have to go, whether it’s three blocks from your workplace or three thousands miles away in a foreign land, you can be happier by paying closer attention to your environment. Smile at the sight of a beautiful sunset, breathtaking architecture in a new city, or the attractive man or woman sitting across from you on the bus. It can also help to learn a bit about wherever you may be traveling. Learn about the buildings and areas that you pass on your way to work, and learn about the country that you will be visiting if you will be making an international trip.

2) Meditate with the help of advanced technology

When you’re constantly working your mind to make sure that all of your daily responsibilities are handled the right way, you’re building up a ton of stress. Even though many people want to know how to release stress from their lives, this is still something that remains elusive for a large amount of the population. To keep stress levels low, simply try to keep your mind off of your worries. While this might prove more difficult than it sounds, every minute that your mind is relaxed contributes to your overall health. With a device like the emWave2, which displays your heart activity on a computer monitor using detailed graphs and beautiful colors, you can literally see the positive change as you learn how to control your thoughts and emotions.

3) Use motivational quotes as a mobile phone background

Psychological health is equally as important as physical health, so do your best to keep negative thoughts out of that noggin. When you’re feeling doubtful about your abilities, simply pull out your phone to remind yourself that you can do anything that you want. Using encouraging words as a cell phone wallpaper can decrease your stress and give you the drive to work harder towards your goals–and you’ll have them in your pocket whenever you need them most. Yes, this might seem like a cheesy thing to do, but it works. Go ahead and try it out and you’ll be sure to notice in your daily attitude, as well as your ability to accomplish the tasks that you are given.

4) Shower with scented oils

People who are always on the go feel constantly drained. They sometimes find it hard to get out of bed each morning to repeat the same tiresome cycle again. If the above sounds like you, here’s a quick tip to feel more energized at the crack of dawn. Cold showers are usually pretty good at waking most people up, but they work even better when you use scented oils. Peppermint is a particularly useful flavor that does marvels in giving you enough fuel to run nonstop the rest of the day. These oils are also easy to take with you when you are traveling, since they can easily be placed in a bag with all of your other bathroom essentials. This is an easy way to give your body a fresh and natural boost every morning.

5) Walk instead of taking the car

Many busy people have to go here and there all the time. Before you jump into the car, remember that driving all day doesn’t really burn any calories. You can improve your cardiovascular health and drop some weight by walking whenever possible. This is also the perfect way to explore a new area if you are on the road. Get out on your feet and explore that city where you are. Some cities even have programs that allow for you to rent a bike, which can help you to get to a destination that might not be reachable by foot because of distance.

People who travel all the time for work or pleasure usually don’t have the time or desire to focus on their health. Some skip meals, eat poorly, don’t exercise, or get into unhealthy habits such as smoking or drinking. If you’re one of these people, reevaluate your life, and take action to be healthier before it’s too late.
